What you need in place

  1. 1Fibre contentGarments, throws and yarn must be labelled with every fibre and its share, largest first. Use the fibre names the rules allow, in Norwegian on the label: «ull» (wool), «bomull» (cotton), «lin» (linen), «polyamid» (polyamide). The label goes on the item, and the content must be visible before purchase when you sell online too.
  2. 2YarnYarn is a textile as well, so the fibre content goes on the ball band. Weight, yardage and needle size are optional, but they're what knitters look for.
  3. 3Children's clothingClothes for young children have their own safety requirements, including for cords and small parts such as buttons. Check them before you sell baby clothes and children's hats.
  4. 4VATTextiles and yarn carry 25% VAT. You register once sales pass NOK 50,000 in 12 months.

Made to order, and shipping

Knitting and sewing take time. If you sell made to order, put the lead time on the product page, and only list as many as you can make.

Pieces made to the customer's own measurements or personalised for them, such as with a name or their own design, carry no right to cancel. If the customer only picks a size and colour from your list, the usual 14 days apply, even if you knit it after the order.

Textiles are light and travel well, and thin garments often go as a small parcel.

Yarn shops and interior shops

Yarn shops and interior shops like to stock handmade work. In the B2B portal they order at their prices, and you approve the order before you ship.
